The Power of Referrals

Few marketing tools are as effective and efficient as a well-crafted referral program. Referrals allow you to leverage your most loyal customers to spread the word about your brand in the most trustworthy way—through personal recommendations. Celebrating and rewarding these advocates encourages long-term loyalty and turns them into active grassroots promoters of your brand.

Bonus: By incorporating surprise and delight into your referral rewards, you amplify the joy and engagement of your fans, encouraging even more enthusiastic sharing.

Setting Up the Referral Program

Referral Branding:

In the rediem backend, navigate to Referrals > Branding. This is where you will customize the look and feel of your referral program.

Customize Rewards:

Navigate to Referrals > Campaigns to customize the rewards for both the Advocate (referring friend) and the Friend (person invited by the advocate). Click "Add Reward" (or "Edit" if you have already added a reward and wish to adjust it).

For the Advocate (Referrer)

Set up the discount's Reward value and determine the purchase type and minimum spend requirement for customers to receive their referral credit under Reward criteria. Additionally, you can set limits for the amount of credit Advocates can redeem at a time under Redemption criteria.

Once you customize your reward, it will be reflected on the Referrals campaign page. You can adjust the referral reward anytime by clicking "Edit."

For the Friend (Referee)

Set up the discount's Reward value, determine the Purchase type, and decide whether you want a minimum spend requirement for customers to receive the credit.

Launching Your Referral Program

Once you have completed your setup, activate your referral program in the backend. Then, copy your Referral HTML from the Campaigns page and paste it into the line of code for the page on which you want your referral program displayed. Finally, toggle on the Rediem Referral app embed for your Shopify theme.


How Referrals Are Tracked

Automatic Tracking

The software tracks all referrals automatically, ensuring that every Advocate and Friend is properly credited for their rewards. This seamless integration means no extra work for you—just set it up and watch your customer base grow.

Referral Analytics

You can monitor the analytics for your referral program in Referrals > Analytics.

Fraud Protection

Our fraud protection will block referrals in any of the following scenarios:

  • If there is a matching shipping address

  • Matching by a combination of IP address & user agent

  • Matching by IP address only

  • Friend and advocate refer each other

  • Matching email or cookie on a friend's purchase

  • Similar email match
