Product Rewards

Product rewards let brands offer free or exclusive products as loyalty incentives

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

How It Works

A product reward is an incentive offered to customers as either a free product or an exclusive product.

  • Free product: The product is provided at no monetary cost to the customer.

  • Exclusive product: The product is only accessible through the loyalty dashboard, either at full price or at a discount not available elsewhere.

Product rewards can require points to unlock, or be made available without any point spend. Brands can also restrict redemption by tier, cart conditions, and usage limits.

Collections

Product rewards can be organized into collections to group similar products together, such as Free Products, Exclusive Products, or Tier Entry Gifts. Collections are optional. If no collection is selected, the reward is placed in a default collection called Product Rewards.

How To Set It Up

Step 1: Create A Product Reward

  1. Go to Program β†’ Points β†’ Add Ways To Redeem.

  2. Select Product Reward.

  3. Search for a product by name and select it from the suggestions.

  4. Click Add Selected Product.

πŸ“‹ Note: Only one product can be added per product reward. To change the product after adding it, click Change Product.

The product image is automatically pulled from Shopify. To use a different image, click the 'x' in the top right corner of the current image and upload a replacement.

  5. Optionally, select or create a Collection to organize the reward.

Step 2: Select A Reward Type

Select the reward type for this product.

Free Product (default)

The product is redeemable at no cost. Configure the following restrictions if desired:

  • Limit free or discounted product to one per cart: Restricts the customer to one free product per transaction across all available free product rewards.

  • Required Paid Product: Requires the customer to have a paid product in their cart before redeeming the free product.

Exclusive Product

The customer pays for the product at the standard price. An optional amount discount can be applied.

  • Limit free or discounted product to one per cart: Restricts the customer to one exclusive product per transaction.

  • Required Paid Product is not available for exclusive products.

Step 3: Configure Reward Value

  1. Toggle Available for points on or off.

  2. If on, specify the number of points required to unlock the reward.

  3. Optionally set redemption limits:

    1. Per User Lifetime Redemption: The maximum number of times a single customer can redeem this reward across all time.

    1. Per User Monthly Redemption: The maximum number of times a single customer can redeem this reward within a calendar month.

    2. Total Redemptions: The maximum number of times this reward can be redeemed across all customers combined.

Step 4: Configure Additional Settings

  • Combination Settings: Select which discount types this reward can be combined with, such as Product discounts, Order discounts, and Shipping discounts.

  • Filter By Customer Tags: Restrict the reward to customers in specific tiers. Leave blank to make it available to all customers.

Step 5: Save The Reward

Click Update to publish the product reward.

How Customers Redeem Product Rewards

Product rewards are displayed in the Redeem tab in the loyalty widget, organized by collection.

Customers can add a product reward to their cart by clicking the cart icon on the product card or by opening the product and clicking Add To Cart.

When a customer adds a product reward to their cart, the configured points are immediately deducted from their balance. If the product is removed from the cart before purchase, points are automatically returned within one minute.

Free Product

When a free product is added to the cart, a coupon is automatically applied, and the product price is set to zero. If the Required paid product setting is enabled and no paid product is in the cart, the customer will see the error: "You must add a paid product before claiming this free product." If there is a Per cart limit, and the customer attempts to add a second free product, they will see: "Free product is already in your cart."

Exclusive Product

When an exclusive product with no discount is added to the cart, it displays with an Exclusive label at the standard selling price or points required. When an exclusive product with a discount is added, it displays with a Discount label and the configured discount applied.
