Integrating rediem with Shopify POS

How to get set up with Shopify POS integration

Before setting up a Shopify POS integration you must:

  • Install rediem on your Shopify admin

  • Download the latest version of Shopify POS

How the Integration Works:

  • Customers can spend points in store and online

  • Customers can earn points in store and online

  • Customers can spend points as a payment method at POS

To get started:

Add extension from Shopify admin

  1. Go to Point of Sale > Settings

  2. Click Smart Grid

  3. Click to customize

  4. Click Add tile > Embedded Apps

  5. Click rediem

  6. Add rediem POS Loyalty

Add extension from mobile device

  1. Open the Shopify POS app

  2. Click Add tile > App

  3. Click rediem

  4. Add rediem POS loyalty

Once added, drag and drop the tile to your preferred position, then tap save.

Ability to set up rewards specific to in-store

When setting up rewards in rediem's backend, you can decide if the rewards should be redeemable in-store

  1. Go to: Manage Program > Rewards Program > Ways to Redeem.

  2. Locate the reward you want to configure and click Edit.

  3. Under where the coupon will be used, select In Store & Online.

  • You can offer three types of reward types for in-store purchases: Amount Discount, Order Discount and Percent Discount

    • To enable redemptions for in-person purchases, rewards must be configured for “Online & In-Store” so they can appear as options in the Shopify POS

  • You can also create specific rewards that are only available "In Store"

How to Enroll or Sign in a Customer

To complete a transaction using Shopify POS, the first step is to get the customer’s email address.

To add a customer:

  1. Tap Add customer.

  2. Search for the customer using the search bar.

    1. If they have a profile: Tap their name in the search results.

    2. If they don’t have a profile already: Create one for them.

  3. For new profiles, refer to Shopify’s guide on creating customer profiles in the POS app.

Opt-in settings and enrollment flow

  • Whether a customer is automatically enrolled in your loyalty program when added to the POS depends on your program's opt-in settings

    • All Customers – Adding a customer profile in the POS will automatically enroll them in your loyalty program.

    • Only Members Who Signed Up – Adding a customer profile won't enroll them by default. When adding customers who are not yet loyalty members, store staff must:

  1. Obtain verbal consent that shoppers agree to join the program

  2. Tap the Enroll now button in the POS UI to complete the enrollment.

How Customers Redeem Points at Checkout

  1. Add the items to the customer's cart.

  2. Click the rediem tile to see the redemption options the customer qualifies for

  3. Choose which of the available rewards to apply to the cart.

  4. Review the applied rewards in the cart and complete the checkout. You’ll see the coupon code and the number of points used under Additional details in the Shopify POS cart.

Questions

Can guest customers redeem points in-store?

No, your customers need to be members to redeem in-store rewards. Invite them to create an account.
