Birthday Rewards

Birthday Rewards allow you to surprise customers with a gift on or before their birthday. This feature supports flexible reward types, timing controls, tier-based targeting, and built-in fraud prevention to ensure rewards are granted fairly.

What Is a Birthday Reward?

A Birthday Reward is a special reward that is triggered based on a customer’s saved birthday. It is linked to the Birthday Action and the Birthday field in the Profile Sequence.

A birthday reward can only be created if a birthday action or birthday profile sequence is active.


How to Create a Birthday Reward

Go to:

Add Ways to Redeem → Birthday Reward

From here, you can configure when the reward is triggered, who receives it, and what type of reward is issued.


Trigger Timing

Choose when customers receive their birthday reward:

  • On their birthday (default)

  • Custom Timing

    • Trigger the reward a specific number of days before the birthday (for example, 31 days or 2 days before)

If no custom timing is selected, the reward is automatically sent on the birthday.


Audience Eligibility

You can control who receives the birthday reward:

  • All Members

  • Segmented by Tiers

    • All tiers

    • Only selected tiers (e.g. Tier 1 and Tier 2)

This allows you to offer exclusive birthday rewards to specific loyalty tiers.


Reward Types

You can choose from the following reward types:

Points

Grant loyalty points to the customer on or before their birthday.

Percentage Discount

Apply a percentage-based discount with additional controls:

  • Purchase type:

    • One-time purchase

    • Subscription purchase

    • Both

  • Minimum purchase amount (optional)

Amount Discount

Apply a fixed amount discount with the same controls:

  • Purchase type (one-time, subscription, or both)

  • Minimum purchase amount (optional)


Discount Combination (Stacking Rules)

For discount-based birthday rewards, you can control stacking behavior using Combination settings:

  • Product discounts

  • Order discounts

  • Shipping discounts

You may check or uncheck these options depending on whether you want the birthday reward to stack with other discounts.


Fraud Prevention & Reward Rules

To prevent misuse, the following rules apply automatically:

  • Birthday rewards are not issued immediately when a customer enters their birthday

  • Customers must save their birthday at least 30 days before the birthday date to receive a reward that year

  • If a birthday is added within 30 days:

    • The reward will not be issued for that calendar year, however, the customer will be eligible for a birthday reward in the future calendar years.
